STICKING TO IT – If I decide it, I do it

Some stats to start the week off right:

  • Step average in the 4 days since I wrote the last post – 8481.5!
  • 3 workouts completed for this week
  • Second blog post underway as I type
  • 59 pages through the 300 page book (Extreme Ownership)  I want to finish this month
  • It’s labor day weekend and I’ll definitely be getting footage for my mini vlogs

It’s September 2nd and I’ll say we’re off to a pretty solid start.

This week reminded me that if it wasn’t for conscious deliberate effort, not much would get done.

For example, even with the simplest task of getting my steps in, I know that if I didn’t force myself to get up and go to the gym to walk on the treadmill, I wouldn’t have even half of the steps that I did. Sounds obvious, but when we fall out of our good habits, we start to forget that only deliberate action gets us to where we want to be.

I had a wonderful morning yesterday. I woke up just as the sun was rising, the lake and fields were covered in fog, the air was crisp and chill, I knew all those factors working together were leading me to one thing… the very first pumpkin spiced latte of the year.

LORD HAVE MERCY

Say what you want about the cliche, but there’s no other combo quite like a slight chill, a comfy oversized sweatshirt and a PSL.

The fog on the roads made it feel like it was already spooky season! Almost.

I have never been so ready for fall in my life!

September – week one

I wrote out my daily goals, something to focus on without having to think about it on the daily.

My goals for the first week of September:

  • Start editing my first vlog with the footage I already have
  • Get my mom to go to the gym with me, not destroy her too bad so she wants to come back
  • Ride my bike a few times to get ready for the Lake Geneva Fat Tire Charity Bike event
  • Film during the biking event
  • Read at least 100 more pages from my book
  • Prepare for my job interview and complete it with confidence

Once it’s written down, it gets done!

Bon Voyage

Ease

Word of the year is ease.

I say this as I’m struggling to write my first blog. Nonetheless, I have decided, and so it is. Ease.

Why is it so difficult? I’m coming to learn that the best things in life happen with ease, yet it’s still hard to accept.

Easy.

It’s almost a dirty word. These are thoughts we’ve all had about ourselves and others. The necessity to feel a struggle leading to a success. A storm before the rainbow. A growing pain. Not that growing pains aren’t a totally real and significant part of life. There’s substance to every form of the human experience and every emotion were put on this Earth to undergo. But why such a pedestal for the uncomfortable ones?

There comes a sense of superiority with having had a harder, more stressful, more exhausting, more heart, mind, and soul crushing time reaching success than the next person. I am more than guilty of convincing myself of this.

“Ahh but, I survived where others didn’t, or wouldn’t have”

Ease. A dirty word.

We have all been a part of, or witnessed, the competition to win the “I had it worse than you” game. No doubt, struggle pain and difficulty are more prevalent to some than others. Trust me I know, I bet I’ve had it worse than you. Therefore, Ill nosedive first into..

Ease. So hard to accept. So difficult to learn.

So how can ease even be ease? There’s nothing easy about it! There lies your humble brag. It isn’t easy allowing yourself to give into receiving all that you want and deserve without a struggle.

But you will, and I will. Though I must warn you now, it won’t be easy.
